Variations to Premises Licences or Club Premises Certificates
Vary your permission to sell or supply alcohol to suit your business
You focus on your club or retail operation. We vary your licence or certificate for a transparent, fixed fee:
Major variations: Change timings, licensable activities or areas used.
Minor Variations
Minor variations are much simpler. Always use them where possible.
The application fee is lower, advertising requirements are reduced, and the application process is quicker. Allowed changes include:
- Small changes to the layout of a premises (such as a change in the position of the bar).
- The addition of new licensable activities not related to sale or supply of alcohol.
- Small changes to allowed hours for licensable activities, not related to the sale or supply of alcohol.
- Revisions, voluntary additions or removals of operating conditions (e.g. where irrelevant or unenforceable).
Major Variations
Major variations are an essentially equivalent process to a new application.
Success or failure of your major variation application does not affect your current permission to sell or supply alcohol. Changes to licences or certificates viewed as major include:
- Changes to the sale or supply of alcohol (adding this licensable activity, or increasing hours for sale or supply of alcohol).
- Extension of opening hours for the licensed premises or club.
- Significant changes to the layout of the premises or club - such as adding usage of a beer garden.
